Delving deeper into the mythos, this track exemplifies “meeting the mentor”, that being the narrative guidance of the vocal passages. While still in the ordinary world, the weight of the mundane, monotonous lifestyle leaves the hero feeling a sense of anomie; social isolation. Now given a glimpse into the unknown, the hero is assisted by the mentor’s guidance and is faced with a decision that could alter their fate. Musically, the song is inspired by Alfa Mist, Rage Against the Machine, Robert Glasper, and Snarky Puppy. We begin to hear more of a fusion between rock, jazz, and hip-hop moving forward.
